Never tried it, but I've heard rumors if you put a rear tire on the front you need to turn it around so it rolls backward. You ever hear that or is that one of those snow snake, square needle stories?
Many years ago tyre makers made tyres for use on the front and rear and it is true that for use on the front the tyre was fitted the other way round compared with the rear. These days tyres are made for either front or rear use, not both. Personally I would use a front tyre on the front! There are plenty of options out there.
