The speedometer on my 95 FXD was shot and I had a helluva time finding someone to even look at it. This is the only shop in the US that would take a look at it and they managed to repair it, awesome repair shop! If you have to repair yours, or just want to have it checked, call this guy and ship yours to him.
As stated above, it's common for the speedo sensor on the tranny to get built up with crap as it's magnetic. Pull it clean it and reinstall. Had to do this to my 2000 FXDX a few months ago.. I also had one die on a 2002 RKC at about 65000 miles..
Hi guys. I've been looking for a replacement. I had the speedo tested (a frequency tester (?)) and it failed the test. Anyway, I've found a couple of speedos, one in the area. Can anyone tell me if the part # 67025-99A would fit my 97 FXDL. Looks about the same and comes from the same year Dyna.
Thnx again for everyone's input.

OK! Speedo works! I have learned a LOT about motorcycle electrics and have found out that parts for a 97 Dyna FXDL are not always easy to find. So how did I get it to work: I bought a new one, a Drag Specialties out of their "old book". It really is a great resource. I think that speedo burnt when the regulator died. I finally found a frequency tester and it tested dead. I had to hardwire the new one, but it really wasn't that bad. I ended up upgrading all the brake lines to steel braid as well. The only problem is that now that tach has the old look with bulbs and the new speedo is LED.
Anyway, thanks for everyone helping me out, and I'm looking forward
to my new adventure with my old bike!
