Default Hard time finding neutral.

I'm having a hard time finding neutral on my bike. if i shut it off, it's no problem. When it's running it's really hard to get it in neutral. Any ideas? clutch adjustment maybe?
thanks, Todd

I'd probally check/change the fluid and adjust the clutch and go from there.

Some people just think they have a hard time finding neutral

Adjusting, maybe rebuild if it hasn't been done yet on that old of bike.

Also don't evos have an adjustment to the pawl or spring?

change your primary oil and adjust the clutch like the other guys said. Also, check your primary chain adjustment. It might be a little tight.

It's easier to snick your bike into neutral if the bike is moving. When I come up on a stop sign or light, I put it in neutral before I stop moving.

Adjust the clutch, and if that doesn't help, remove the clutch pack and check the spring plate to see if the rivets are getting loose. This part is prone to fail and some folks refer to it as the grenade plate. This is assuming that the bike has the stock clutch, of course.

Usually its the center screw in the clutch hub
what to do - undo the cable adjustment ( turn it in to make it shorter ) some are at the front frame down tube - then remove the derby cover rear 8 inch round cap - the center screw has an 11/16 wrench nut holding it firm - loosen the nut then with an Allen wrench turn it counterclockwise till it becomes loose ( if its loose already then you have to remove the clutch to see whats going on ) but if not then turn it clock wise till you feel it engage again then counter clockwise 2 hours as if your looking at a clock dial - then tighten the nut holding the screw so it does not go out of adjustment you just preformed
last thing - lengthen the cable adjustment watching your lever leave just a taste of movement at the lever so you get a full pull on the cable - your done

Spring time, time to lube cables and adjust everything anyway.

That's the tried and true way,the older bikes seemed to always have a dragging clutch if you rode them much.
Clean everything up and adjust it would last a while but not long, the Evo after E84 with wet clutches are better but still.........
I still snick into neutral on my 2019 M8 while moving a little.

Many people think this is poor advice. I am one of them. Plus I just can't figure why bother.
