Default Oil mist

I got an Andrews ev46 and new lifters, bearing etc put in my 1997 heritage softail.

I'm getting some oil mist from my arlen ness big sucker intake. I have been running it up the rpms pretty good.

Could this have anything to do with the cam change?

Thanks

It is a head breather type so you could have issues with the rubber flaps that control breathing but oil mist is not uncommon.

too much oil in the bag ... it will blow out what it don't want every time ... and makes a big mess

Only the EPA what you to burn the oil vapors back in the cylinders. Your best option is to either go with a catch can, or to just vent the vapors to the outside world directly (not suck them back into the intake manifold)..

On the motor, it's a top breather, with an umbrella type seal on each head (on the high side of the head for the breather channel pockets), that allows the engine pressure to vent out of them to the breather channels.

Also to point out, the middle cover ring has places for the valve on either side, so it can be used on either head. When installing the trims with umbrella seals installed, make sure that the trim ring is has the seal on the intake side of the head (above the breather channel in the head).

The James ones that come with the kits do not fit correctly, and even the oem ones can go hard to not seal off correctly as well. Also at high RPMs, you have lot of oil that is being pushed up into the head to lube the rockers/being sprayed to the bottom of the covers via the rockers and valve movement, and even if the umbrella are still in good shape, still going to get some oil mist/light amounts of oil past them out the breather channels.

So again, see part 1 on not venting the oil/mist back into the cylinders to be burnt there, to just cause more carbon build up on the pistons.

I always run mine a half quart low, never a problem with mist for years, but I have a bottom breather
