Default Gear Cover - Leak at Bottom

Replaced gaskets for the F and R cylinder, inner & outer primaries, plus other gaskets in the primary area to fix an oil leak.

Now discovered it leaking under the gear cover - when exhaust was off, I stuck some Q tips in the bottom bolt opening for the exhaust as there was fluid coming out (see Parts Manual pic #6 bolt).

How involved is this to replace the gasket (#18 in Parts Manual pic)? Or is it #28 Oil Seal Bearing (# 83162-51)?

Gasket, was the cam seal oil would coming out of the hole for the wire from sensor pick up. Those pipe mounts on the nose cone like that are hard on things. Use an MLS gasket not the paper one.

I second using the MLS or "foamette" gaskets. Adjustable pushrods?

Tension on the cam may be an issue with getting the cover back on.

And while you have got it open, you might as well replace the sometimes troublesome inner camshaft needle roller bearing with a proper Torrington unit. (Now branded as Koyo but still the best choice.) You will need an internal bearing puller for that and a drift to put the new bearing in with but not a difficult job.

The hardest part about replacing that gasket is removing and reinstalling the exhaust.
The exhaust's mount point is what created the problem to begin with.
