Exhaust stud length of thread ?

Machine Shop removed the exhaust studs in my heads when doing a valve job.

5/16-18 - 5/16-24
how long for each section of threads?

Not trying to be a snob but I would just go to the dealer and get one..16715-83. I'm sure they still stock them.. They were used up through 2017 as far as I know .

You’re not wrong, except the dealership is 1+ hour drive. If I know the correct length, O’Reilly is 10 mins!

I think I found the spec:

5/16-18 5/16-24 x 1 11/16 (.91” ) 50/50 split

I doubt you're going to find a double ended stud like that at any auto parts store......

One end is 5/16-18.
Other end is 5/16-24

The main thing aside from the dimensions, where ever you source them, make sure they're grade eight, minimum 125,000 PSI tensile strength. Otherwise you'll be right back where you are now.

I was able to find the size needed, but grade 5.

I’ve seen these snapped off before and grade 8 will thread right out… if they were grade 5 they probably wouldn’t have snapped, but a tough job to get ‘em out if they do!

So I guess I need to order online or drive to the burg!
