I'm a little confused on how this forum works. Sorry if my messages are all over the place.

Look hard at the lifter rollers, they do go bad losing the little needle bearings, and just pull the cam to be sure. This is no point to guessing it looks ok.

To expand on the above regarding the cam bearing:

Your looking at the rollers in the bearing that is pressed into the block at the opposite end of the cam nose cone bushing. That $15 bearing has given many people a major headache. It has lost a roller or two for some in the past and can cause the very issue your experiencing with the oil pump. NOT saying this is your issue, but it's worth a look.

Replace it since your there with a bearing that has "full compliment rollers", instead of the bearing that is in there now. Your current stock bearing has a plastic cage holding about half the quantity of rollers as the suggested replacement bearing. The plastic cage fails and it can drop the rollers. It was a cost saving measure by MoCo. The replacement bearing is a Koyo/Torrington B-138 bearing, has no plastic cage, and a full compliment of rollers inside. Lots of threads on bearing removal and replacement. You should check it and change it out.

I would suggest like others: (in addition to dealing with your oil pump problem) you replace the lifters, the cam bearing, and now is the perfect time to put a better cam in the bike. Your factory cam is a dog and hinders how well your engine was originally designed to run. It was an EPA thing that forced MoCo to use that cam.

Still concerned about what caused your pump to lock up. You really need to concentrate on finding the cause. I hope it's something simple. While I don't remember how many rollers are in your current cam bearing, you need to pull the cam and count the rollers inside that bearing. Someone here will know how many needle rollers are in your current cam bearing. Same with the lifter rollers, they need close inspection.

Pull the breather gear to check the case.. Woodruff keys don't just shear and that oil pump body is shot..

Thanks all. Going to pull cam, replace bearing and check out lifters.
Not sure if I should replace Nylon breather gear with a metal one.
The thing looks mint.

Toss the plastic breather gear, you are going to find the inside of the port is scored up already and probably has some trash in it.

Drop the mint part bud, you are just talking yourself into thinking everything is just fine, it isn't.
