You'll be fine with the oils you're using.. Just change it out by 100 miles..
And for your climate in Jersey I would rather see 20w-50.. No issues with VR1 non synthetic.. I use it in my twin cam as well..
The reason you change out the oil after break-in is because when the parts are
breaking in, they're grinding off pieces of metal as they mesh, rub together.
You don't want that in your oil, it's like adding sand.
Is fresh oil to expensive in your area?
The factory calls for the first oil change at 1,000miles.
The oil filter will catch any microscopic bits of metal.
If the engine is making so much metal that the oil must be changed before 1,000 miles, it was not built properly.
If the engine is grinding off pieces of metal, like adding sand... it is already junk.
