Whats a good candidate for replacing the ignition on an 80 evo. I just went through putting a cam in and noticed the ignition module looks to be melting. Why would that be? The bike is a 1995 Fatboy. Was looking at the dynatec 2000i.

Go to NAPA and get a new Pickup unit, and carry on...Spark is Spark...even at the drag strip!!!
The two following links are probably one of the better ignition systems to get because you're keeping them out of the heat of the nose cone. And no there's more to it than just easier to set base timing.. it actually helps with easier starting and with the selectable ignition curves you can move your power around a little bit by getting a little bit more advanced in the lower end without getting too much to cause pre ignition.
The dynatek 2000 P HDE that I listed there is for 96 and up.. I don't know what year your bike is but they also make them for earlier model 7 pin connections.
The only thing you need in the nose cone is Standard Motor Products mc-spa 3 which I provided a link for down below that again is for 96 and newer because of the 8 pin Deutsch connectors. You can't go wrong with that ignition system.. It'll last you your lifetime.
EDITED: Forgot to mention, this is all plug n play without having to do any additional wiring like you have to with the 2ki in the nose cone as well as the Ultima in the nose cone..
