Default 86 evo chopper control help for shorty!

Hey guys, new to the forum and first post. I am currently building an '86 FXST. I am building a 60-70s style chopper and have run into an issue. When I chopped the fender struts it will cause my seat to shift rearward and I am only 5'9". I am wanting mid controls but that seems out of the question. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am looking at King/ Queen seats, so maybe that will push me forward enough. Any help is appreciated.

If you chopped the fender struts you probably won’t have anything to mount the king queen seat to.
Post a pic of what it is you’re talking about.

I am going to hard mount the fender to the swing arm with struts so it floats and do a custom King with floating queen seat. Maybe with a hinge that allows the seat to move with the swing arm. It’s a custom so I will figure that out as I go.

I did something similar with my chopper, I made brackets to attach the back of the solo seat to the frame..

Later on, I added a flip out seat from a Rocker-C and the seat stays without them. I had to make spacers because the older frame is narrower than the Rocker

Creativity is the fun part of building a custom bike, enjoy!

Absolutely. It just stinks when you have a great concept but your short legs throw a stick in the forks. Mid controls would solve all my problems. I may have to just fabricate them myself. Just wanted to see if anyone in this forum may have already done it.

How often do you ride 2-up? Perhaps you can use a separate solo seat and pillion pad? I see where you don't want the huge gap between the seat and fender.

I added the Rocker pillion because of a woman who wanted to ride on the bike so badly she was willing to sit on one of those stick-on hardtail pads.

I never ride 2-up. My wife doesn’t ride and says that if she’s not riding with me, nobody else is riding with me. Lol. I’m going for the 60s to 70s chopper vibe. I have thought about a springer style barber seat with a pillion pad. That may be my only option. I do have a couple of seats that I can chop up. Maybe I could make something work with one of them. It just have them recovered.

I never ride 2-up. My wife absolutely refuses to ride with me and she says if she’s not going to ride, no one else is gonna ride with me. I’m only doing the king/queen seat for nostalgic reasons. I may end up doing a barber style seat with a pillion pad if I can’t figure something else out
