I've got a '99 Softail custom. Need a seat with a backrest, found one for an EVO Heritage Softail, looks similar, I can't see it in person, just pictures, seller says it'll fit, noticed 2 bolt tabs on the bottom that my stock seat doesn't have.
Will the seat fit to the tank properly? reading a lot of conflicting info saying it won't fit, then other comments saying all softail evo seats interchange. I'm just cautious since I've got 2 different seats now that don't fit, still have one that I'm trying to sell, I was told that they would fit my bike anyway, just want to be sure this time
The older softails have two side mounting holes specifically for solo seats. Look for the bolt holes on each side probably have a plug in them.
Beware of custom seats though, lots of the Evo’s where customized with stretch tanks for example, they would make seats fit by cutting the nose or front off
I was looking at my bike, I see those plugs, I was wondering if that's how the solo seats fit. Mine has the stock pillow seat that has a strap over the top that holds it down. The seat I'm looking at, in the pictures, is a stock Harley seat. My bike has the stock tank so I'm thinking this heritage seat should fit fine

It looks like the new seat is missing the metal piece that lets you screw the rear of the seat to the rear fender. But it also looks like you could take that piece off your current seat and use it on the new seat.
Are the two "bolt tab" pieces that stick down on the sides of the driver seat removable?
Can you have the seller measure from the front tang to one of the bolt holes of that missing rear piece?
If it measures the same as your current seat, and if the two bolt tabs on the new seat are removable or won't cause a problem, it looks like it should work?
Pretty sure the bolt tabs will line up to the holes on my frame that have the plastic plugs in them. Seller guaranteed itll fit, but dont they always? 😆
Yeah Im thinking the same thing with the rear mount, Ill take it off my current seat, or make a new one out of stainless steel. Consensus is that itll fit
I bought it this morning, so I guess Ill find out.
Ill report back when I receive it. Gonna take a couple weeks to get up to the Canadaland here
