When I pulled my 1994 evo engine apart tonight I found the tappet blocks appeared to be cut where the tappet guide roller slots are. Only 1 tappet roller of the 4actually has a full groove on both sides (look at the picture). It has an Andrews EV27 cam. Why would anyone do this to the tappet block? do I need to replace them? Are these normal?
What's the prior history of your motor? Looks like someone was worried about clearances and ground the blocks down some.
The EV-27 has none of these issues. I'd just get some new blocks. Was there a problem with your motor? Besides the oil leak?
Can anyone else confirm that these have been cut? The reason I asked is that I saw some aftermarket crome ones on the net and they look like they have been cut too. Do the actual stock ones look like mine in the pic?
If these have been cut I think I will go for the aftermarket chrome ones.
