Default evo carburetor problems

I sent my 1999 evo FXSTC to be re jetting becuase I changed pipes and air filter. After the rejectting the technician doesn't know why my motorcycle is not working properly in high. It lost a lot of power as well cough a lot in high revolution.

Please advise

Joe

you most likely went to far with the re-jetting.I would suspect the main or high speed jet is at least 1 size too big.If not more.I cant believe the tech wouldnt know this unless its a labor charge and hes in a jam to begin with.If you can foot it,go get a mikuni or Screaming Eagle carb with the Hi Po manifold. Its a 1 hour job complete and most times,an adjustment is all thats needed.
Im sorry I cant remember the right jet size but Imgettin old I RECKON

I think that you're just too high, and probably need rejected..

Go to another mechanic. One of the test should be a high speed shut down to look at the plugs.

Do about 50 for a mile, then pull in the clutch shut down the motor. Pull over and look at the plugs. Black is bad. Anway you know what the plugs should look like.

I agree with everyone else....the rejetting was too much for your application.

I personally have never had much luck with the CV carburetor. I've rejetted and rejetted....was never completely satisfied. I finally dumped the CV for an S&S Super E.....no more problems and no more rejetting.

A CV carburetor can be made to work very well.....it just takes more time and paitence than I had.

The CV Carb is one of the easier ones to tune in my opinion, just takes a little bit of patience. I went through this earlier in the year with mine. For starters make sure the carb is stock and doesn't have a jet kit in it. Mine had a dynojet kit in it which I personally think are junk so I ended up getting a stock CV Carb. I run slip ons, k&n filter, and cam. I ran a45 slow jet, an 88 sportster needle, and 170 main and it runs great, but I have tried just about every combination of jets possible unitl I got to this point.

I personally would stick with the CV, you will lose gas mileage with the other carbs, I don't know if that matters to you, but once I went with a properly tuned stock CV carb I went from 26 mpg around town to 38 mpg around town, so it was significant.
