I have a '95 lowrider that is misting oil on the pipes and was told by a local bike mechanic that this is normal and to remedy the situation I should put a y on the breather tubes andplug the carb hols and reroute this to the bottom of the engine. Anyone else done this or do I have a problem that I should look into a little more.
Thanx in advance
Your '95 breathes through the heads, so you can get a kit like the Doherty type and hide the plumbing behind the AC, or route a hose down to ground as your wrench suggested.
Mine is doing a bit of the same, what I would call misting. Its coming from the rocker gasket in the center of the rear jug. Might want to take a look there to see if you have any residue there..
You can get some twin cam banjo bolts and Custom Chrome has a cheap kit that has the breather spigots, get some hose at Auto Zone and I used a Honda motorcycle oil filter, capped by a plastic oil filter wrench, I change the filled-up filter about twice a year.
How do you have the filter mounted? Does it just hang there??
I drilled a small hole in the frame, bolted a straight strap to the frame, the straight strap has 2 holes drilled in it, then i used a big u-bolt, with same circumference as the oil filter, to bolt the oil filter to the strap.
