I want to remove the fairing and install a nacelle-the vtwin kit says it fits 80-86- does anyone know if it will work on a 87? also will the nacelle from a flhs work? thanks

Which type of fairing do you have now, fork or Frame mounted. If its frame mounted, the FLHS nacelle will work. If yiu have a fork mounted fairing, where are you going to put the gauges?

We converted a friends 1987 flt to an FLHS style At the time HD sold a beautiful metal nacelle (chrome) since discontinued The one from V -twin is plastic(chrome) My 1993 FLHS had an orig gray plastic nacelle Re did it with HD nacelle in 1994 It should work You would then purchase an FLHS style windshield from National Cycle Chopped style The mounting hardware probably from HD The windshield makes the nacelle look better

There are 2 styles for the FLT conversion. One has a hole and grommet for the throttle cable/s, the other doesn't. This one seems to work and look better than the other because the cables don't look like an after thought. Sorry I can't answer the '87 question. Maybe the instrument cluster changed after 86.

That being said the nacelles are different from one mfg to the other. In the before and after photos below, the chrome version is more of a sleek smooth shape, straight across the gauge pod. The silver one is more squarish, was painted and is more rounded over the headlight and across the pod. I drilled the hole for the throttle cables and added the grommet. It was used and had some indicator lights in the holes you see in the front with the white wire tie. I do have an extra new innerheadlight bucket to fit the nacelles that I would sell for $10 plus shipping.

Hope this was helpful.

I have a bunch of parts like the ones posted in your pictures off a 94 FLHTP, the speedo tack set up is in Kilometers if you want them you can have them just pay the shipping. The bottom piece nacelle is metal, I might have a chrome plastic one. Like I said figure the shipping and their yours. The windshield and all....
