Can anyone tell me if it is true that the digital mileage indicator ona 1998 Evo Heritage Softail is supposed to read read a decimal? I am looking at a bike on the web and a pic shows the speedometer and the mileage reads 3122.0
The owner said evo bikes read to the tenth but I was also told that that the trip did but not the true mileage. Please help b4 I ride 3 hours to look at a bike
RE: Decimal place on the mileage reader of a 98 ????
I can tell you that my 99 Heritage EVO does not show tenths except on the trip odometer. It only reads whole miles on the regular odometer, no decimal. I would say that mileage is really 31,220.

I think that mileage is really 31.220 or that he has shown you a pic of the partial mileage which could be in this moment 3122,0. I would ask him for two pics, one of the total mileage and one of the partial mileage.

Well, my 98 LR shows the tenths on both the mileage and the trip. My problem is how do you reset the trip? Everytime I punch the button, all it does is change between the trip and mileage. Don't know if my 2 cents helps any but mine does tenths on both.

Seems kinda odd they would have some show tenths and some not show.... Oh well [shrugs]
To answer your question, on my '98 I push and hold the button until all zeros show in trip then push it again to get back to mileage. I guess yours could be different but give it a try.
