I just bought a pair of roadking tank emblems but they will need the sticky tape for the back
Is this something I can order through Harley or is there something I can get from the hardware store?
Harley should have the backing plate-double sided tape for your emblem's.I was going to put emblems on my tank and this was a concern to me also. You could buy double sided tape, but to cut it exact? Now just to give you my opinion emblem's aren't nessasary, they serve no function other than to enform the ignorant.
like chainman said, i have been using 3M double sided tape to reattach my emblems. works great and they can be removed with a razor knife and reapplied at any time in the future. i got mine at the local NAPA store , but any parts jobber should have it.

Is that tape reliable? I've seen it used, but does it withstand the test of time? [8D]
I have been using 3M tape for a long time, from emblems and trim on cars to affixing flashing lights to the top of semi cabs. Make sure both the back of the emblem and the tank where you want to put it are clean/wax free, and that baby it staying put.
