Snapped Throttle Cable.
- hey , haha , last night , was out on a ride ... and my throttle cable
snapped .... hahahahahah hahahah .... out there somewhere in the
middle of nowhere summore ...
- pull the cable out from the sleeve.
- one end was still attached to the carb's butterfly ... think think think....
call wife ... call friend .. call tow ... how ? ... think summore.
- pull the cable ... engine responds .... haha.
- okay here goes ... put it into gear , wind cable around my right hand....
steering with left hand ... operate throttle by pulling on the cable with
the right hand .... hahahahahahah .... very very interesting ride back home
last night !!
- each time i cornered , the bike would either go faster or slower , depending
on whether it was a right or left hand turn (!!).
- just thought to post this as it may be of help to some other brother in need.

nb : does a new throttle cable come together with the sleeve and all ?

Yes, it comes with everything you need except the brass ferrule that sits in the handgrip itself, so don't drop, and loose it unless you want to but a new one. Part# 56508-76. (speaking from experience here)

Quality aftermarket cables come with the brass ferrule too, so when you lose it you just pull the new one out of the package. Ask me how I know.
Pistole, you could have swapped the return cable over to the pull side and ridden home with the throttle "backwards."

- dismantled the right control and found that the idle cable was also frayed.
- so , got new throttle & idle cable.
- think that the loose cables and lack of lubrication caused the cables near
the end-fitting at the hand control to rub up against the insides of the
handcontrol unit ... till they frayed.

- how tight do you adjust the pair of cables ? Noticed that if I tighten them
too much , then the throttle will refuse to return to zero. Too loose and there
is alot of play.

Adjust them so that when the bike is idling, the pull cable is just loose, but when you have it wide open, the butterfly or slide or whatever is all the way open. The idle cable should be loose, but not so loose that something is going to fall off/out. I usually hold the throttle wide open, then adjust the cable to where it just makes the butterfly hit wide open. Whatever the closed position is there usually works out fine. Then make the idle cable loose. It isn't used anyway, as the throttle return spring should be doing most of the closing. If the throttle return spring won't close your idle with the throttle set screw free, you have other issues.
