I finally got to take my bike out and try it out yesterday, man I love that cam!!!! It pulls like a beast, I think I might need to rejet just a little it doesn't have quite the response at around 60 mph that I think it should have, have to roll on the throttle just a little more and it seems to come on good then. The combination of pipes, big sucker, cam and CV carb has really give this bike a new personality.
Have you done anything with the jet-needle ?? If it's a stock needle,
It could use a shim of .030 - .050 under the head, to richen up mid to beginning of upper range..
That is the area that lots of times gets forgotten.. & will add power at speed..
Also if your CV slide hole is already drilled to .125 that IS too big for heavy Baggers.. It works fine from start out, but at speed & then roll-on, it's flat on it's face....
Soultion is to get an un-molested slide (I drill Bagger slides only to just under .100) & at speed roll-on is great..

Thank for the info Buddy, as far as i know the slide hadn't been drilled out at all. I was thinking of taking the carb off and drilling it next week glad I didn't now. I will use the smaller.100 instead of the 1/8. I would really like to get by without changing my main jet. I know my slow jet is a little lean, getting to much popping on decel. I love the way this bike pulls now, rode about 120 miles today came back home across Soco mtn. Man it ate that mountain up
Good, (remember just UNDER .100) for bagger slides..
If you drill with a .100 bit it will be over-size..
Not sure what year carb you have or what needle ??
And instead of shimming & again possibly re-shimming, a good needle choice,I would strongly recommend is the '88 Sporty needle HD Part # 27094-88
That will richen up just over 1/4 throttle to 3/4 throttle & you 'may' possibly be able to keep your current main jet, doing this.
But you gotta bump the slow to a 48 anyhow..
Idle-mix 2 1/4 (for starting point anyhow) But do be VERY careful if you wind in to bottom out the idle-mix screw, Brass screw & aluminum body..Very easy to ruin a carb body SEAT ($$$)..... So easy does it (there)...

The carb is off of a 2003 Dyna, I haven't had apart except for taking the bowl off to rejet (or try) the 185 I bought would not fit, smaller threads on the 175 , the jet I bought is identical to whats in the wife's sporty. Seems to have a different needle jet. I thought all CV jets were the same guess not huh? Unless someone has modified it before I got it. Supposedly the guy I got it from took it off his bike brand new and replaced it with a Mikuni. The slow jet was in pretty tight so I'm gonna wait until I have time to take it off the bike and take it to the work bench.
After 2001 the needles got very, very LEAN (EPA) meaning they are thicker.. Lets less gas pass..

Sounds like the carb you have has a dyno-jet kit in it...(waste of money)
HD jets do NOT fit dyno-junk kit emulsion tube aka (needle jet tube)
Their jets do NOT fit HD emulsion tubes either...
I'd bet the needle is adjustable & your slide is already drilled to 1/8" That's probably why it's so flat at a speed throttle roll-on.....
That's what i was afraid of, the needle jet has a screw driver slot instead of a hex head like on OL's sporty. I will probably take it off tomorrow since I have half a day off work. The emulsion tube should available from the dealer, I hope. I will check the slide also. The bike is running worlds better than it was with the old butterfly carb, cam and exhaust, but I hate to leave power laying on the table.
