front tire
well i just replaced my rear tire 130/90-16, used a dunlop, the one that says Harley on it. thats what my bike came with, dunlop on the rear and a avon on the front. i have a 1990 fxstc, what would be a good front tire, its a 21". i have looked at the dunlop 21" front that matches the rear, not bad, $90.00 free shipping. i heard the avon doesnt last long. any recommendations.

What you must bear in mind is that Dunlop develops its tyres to give high mileage for its North American customers. Although originally British it is no longer, old chap, and what Harley gives its customers is mileage first, ride and grip second. Companies like Avon are still British and develop their tyres to a different philosophy, with grip and wet weather performance high on their priorities.
Being a British owner of an American bike I want tyres for my riding conditions and use Avons. They are brilliant! They provide a great ride and good mileage, but not as high as Dunlops, but they are better in every other department. Bear in mind that Venoms use higher pressures than Dunlops.
If you only ride the interstates in fine weather Dunlops may serve you better. But if you love the back roads and don't mind getting wet, try Avons - two of them, not one!

I own a: '85 Electra Glide. I want to remove my front and rear fenders.
In order to paint 'em.
From what I gather you changed your own tires YES/NO
If that is so;
Can you give me any TIPS on how to get that front tire off first
we'll talk about the rear later on if that's alright with you.
Do I need any special tools if so say the word and I'll get 'em.

Schooner, you talking about removing the tire from the wheel or the wheel from the bike?
As for tire selection, I really like the Metzlers myself. I know they had a QC issue with their Brazilian plant, but I have 3 of them on 2 bikes right now and have not had a problem. I've been running Metzlers for about 20 years now. The only drawback is that they don't last as long, especially on my big heavy bike. I have a Dunlop HD on the back of mine right now and it's done about 12K miles, which is a record for me. I'm due for another rear tire and I think I'll put another Dunlop HD on the back of mine.
