Hey all.
Any one here ever have or ride a Sport Glide? (FXRT) I am looking at a 1984 with 44K on it. Thinking I can own it cheap enough to add another ride. Just looking for people with experience on one. What can I look forward to fixing on it etc.
Thx
Fat Henry
Hi Henry, I have a 84 FXRT (Sport Glide) and I love it. I hear there were different combos of parts depending on early or late "84". Mine is a Evo motor, 5-speed, wet-clutch and enclosed chain drive. It is a awesome and very versatile bike that can do most anything well, but the trade off it that it is "ugly as F_CK!
But who cares what anyone else thinks. I would check to make sure the air suspension holds air, both front and rear and well as the anti-dive solonoid. Awesome touring bike and get better mileage that my friends "2008" fatboy with EFI and 6-speed trans.
Any issues with the tank liner or base gaskets leaking? Can I ask how many miles on yours? I think all the fxr's were Block heads (evo's). Nothing wrong with that since I have a 98 FLSTF.
This is one of harleys finest hours ! Great bike handles well air front end great fairing protection People didn't like the way these looked narrow front end etc But the drive over the road was hard to beat ! Make sure it's EVO with the 5 speed

Hey Henry, no problems with the fuel tank, base gaskets do not leak but may have been replaced, I do have a bit of oil coming out of the front rocker box though.
As for mileage a have 18k so more age than mileage. I have owned it for a year and put 6k of it on in that year. Ugly but awesome.
