Hey there, looking for some opion. 98 Electra Gluide 1340 EFI. I have a couple of different cams and was wonding which is better. I have an Andrews EV23 and I also have the Harley Screamin Eagle SEH-3. I have 10 to one compression pistons. I also have true dual exhausts with supertrap mufflers. Also with SE air cleaner and powercommander III. I was going to install a new cam cover, so was wondering which cam I should stay with.
Also anyone have any help with powecommander down loads for this application.
I'm running a similar setup.. sort of. '98 Ultra, HD SE-3 cam, quick install pushrods, stock pipes with Kerker glass packs, HD SE air cleaner. I gave FuelMoto my bike's specs and they shipped it pre-loaded. I did have the dealer check it on the dyno. Don't have the numbers in front of me but I recall the chart showed a significant increase in Torque. The SE-3 pulls strong from just off idle to around 4500.. I have the stock pistons.
The only thing I would put the se-3 cam in would be a box to sell on Ebay. Exhaust valve timming is too late on this cam. You will have popping on decel. Go with the EV27 for the evo engine. Tried them both in my 1998 evo roadking.
I've heard nothin' but good about the Wood's W6 cam.
I think that's what I will go with next for my 99 evo.
I have a VThunder 3010 in mine currently and am real happy with it.
Lots of low down torque, and real strong mid-range too.
Cam choice also depends where and how you ride plus do you ride 2 up?
OK a little more info, I do ride two up a lot. We also pull a trailer behind on long trips. The SE3 is made by Andrews according to the sheet that came with the cam.
Put both cams on E-Bay and do what Lionsm13 said. Contact Bob Woods and get a 6 series cam. These things flat out make torque which is what you are looking for! You wont be disapointed, we reccomend them to most of the baggers we do.
I am VERY happy with my EV27 andrews cam. My only complaint is my gas mileage seems to have dropped quite a bit. Best I have gotten is 37 MPG! In all fairness to the cam, thats around town, and I have done my share of gettin' on it!
I have also heard great things about the Woods cam. To be perfectly honest, the ONLY reason I didn't go that route is because the Andrews has been around for so long, and is such a popular, reliable cam.
Either way you go should be fine, I would think. Good luck!
