Thanks, am wondering what the labor bill will be, not a harley shop, guy works on knuckles, shovels but is assistant is the son of a local harley dealer, can't work for his dad, pretty good wrench, I'm thinking 10 hrs ? Reinstall cam lifters, oil pump...
Certainly want to find what's wrong.Lift the bike, pull the plugs, turn the motor while investigating things. You may have already saved yourself a lot of grief by catching it early.
dog155, already know whats wrong, rear exhaust roller rocker ? went out feeding the needle bearings into the return side of the oil pump, taking it out along w/the cam, (2) bent pushrods..., been waiting since the 9 th for Ultima to send parts, no charge, for which I am greatfull, otherwise the bike would be sitting for a while, parts came in late friday and should have bike by this comming wednesday. My only complaint so far is Matt, in warranty, is NOT good on communication and returning calls, otherwise all is good or will be good when I have a bike even though I will have to put out unnessesary money to fix a broke engine w/around 3,500 miles. But still all is good.
Matk,
Ultima started an engine reman program and from what I hear they are very busy. They are trying to get some more qualified personnel, but "it aint easy" as the song goes. Mark is pulling double/triple duty, so try to be patient with him.
I understand John and will leave him a message tomorrow thanking him, but a call to me, just a couple of minutes out of his day, over a 4 day period would have been nice, but yes I understand, he may have had 20 or better guys leaving him messages. I guy just gets impatient, during a short riding season, when your kinda new engine is down for 3 weeks. Thanks John

I remember when a local Indy was working on our 80" for over 3 weeks, they had a sign up NOT to bother them on the phone, so I waited but became very frustrated. it was during a time whe we could have enjoyed riding. I am not sure what I would do if I were in your situation, maybe put the 80" back in and hope it still works.

Gryphon I am not sure what number you have been calling but if you dial 636 931-3255 that is a direct line to my desk. If I do not answer leave a message & your call back number & I promise you will get a call back from me. I am here 8 - 4:30 Mon. thru Fri. I am surprised to hear that no one got back to you...Anyway, call me & your issue & or questions will be taken care of.
I am sure Ultima employees can't talk to everyone about everything, but you do have a reason to get better customer service. Ultima needs to improve their customer service, perhaps set up web access for questions and answers.
Talked to mechanic today, putting in lifters, front dropped right in, rears would not go in, tried swapping around, none would go in the rear, sorry, not meant as kinky lol,the rear rocker is the one that went out, he's going to hone out for rear lifters tomorrow, any idea's, has the lifter allways been tight, leading to the failure ? Any idea's would be appreciated.
Mark,
I talked to Matt today and he was out of the office for a while and is catching up on his messages. Yes that could have been the cause of your malfunction.
