Thanks John, had the bike all trailered up and headed out the door, turned around half way their, going to take a little time to think about this, have read alot and the shop is a little busy , don't want a rush, want to make sure, as you mentioned, to get all the crap cleaned out of lines and such, just want to take a little time and hopefully get it right, as possible, this time.

He said they will cover parts, I said thank you very much. Gave him the shops number and I imagine he will call and ask them to send the damaged parts in. Hope it all works out, labor will be enough as it is.
I dealt with Matt also. My 107 blew the aluminum rocker support. It was out of warranty but they sent me all the parts and gaskets to fix it. Good people to work with.

Will start it up tomorrow and try to find where it is comming from. Thanks in advance.
Keep us advised but sounds like heat noise.

This is just an update of the problem on 7/18/13, 2nd time problem , w/my Ultima 127. Took a 20 mile ride, pulled away from a stop sign and started getting an engine noise, was (2) miles from home. took it easy. Parked it and never did anything w/it till about a week ago as I felt it was time to get ready for the 2014 season. Took it to a harley mechanic, 20+ years experience, had know reason to believe that it was not an easy fix, had not sounded like it did in '09 or about 4,000 miles earlier. Got a call yesterday, the engine is toasted. Did not get all the detail, will when I pick it up. Metal in both upper and lower, cam lobe bad, I can only imagine the oil pump and most every thing else is bad, as it was before. I will be bringing it home as is and try and figure out what to do. I am not at this point going to spend a bunch of money on an engine that has had catastrophic engine failure in less than 9,000 miles. I don't beat my bike and I keep the maintenance up. Over the last (2) weeks I have left Charlie, Ultima warranty contact, messages/number, telling him I understood it was out of warranty but I had questions. Have not received the courtesy of a call back. I am mad right now, Ultima supplied the parts last time but I had out of pocked expense and time lost on an engine w/appx 5,000 miles. Now I have a 350.00 expense to find my engine is fried, appx 4,000 miles later and a major out of pocket expense to have a running bike. I know that I bought a high performance engine, but my expectations were set higher than this and I know guys beat their engines and they just keep going. I will give Charlie another call and see if I receive a return call before I pass judgement on this engine and my experience w/it.

90hotrod,
Take some pictures of the pieces and post them. Perhaps things aren't as bleak as the "harley mechanic" stated. It is almost always cheaper to fix it right then to throw it away.

I have an ultima 113 that I bought in 02 and have been riding since 03. I have over 35000 miles to date , having done nothing more than change rocker box gaskets. Lately the base gaskets and crankshaft seal have developed leaks. I am now in the process of putting this motor on a different bike. After pulling the motor from its' previous bike I pulled the top end down to relace the gaskets and check everything out. I was very pleased with what it looked like. Iam going to change the rings and lifters just because I can, but would have been comfortable putting the old parts back in if I had needed to . I love this motor! I have beat on this thing a lot and have not been able to hurt it. I don't know if the newer ones are using the same parts , but I would hope they are getting better not worse. I was surprised to see how much trouble people are having with Ultimas . Maybe I just got lucky, but I wouldn't be afraid to buy another one.

Get some total seal rings and prep the cylinders properly. You will pick up HP, have less blow-by, and longer ring life. Be sure to use the cylinder prep too as it helps.
