Default Another Electraglide (1990) possible purchase

looking at a 1990 Electraglide. 84000 miles. Rebuilt by a dealer at 60,000 miles. New rider & pass boards, brake and shifter pegs, and added lower fairings. Bike is all there, includes new front tire, couple extra tanks, old boards, old radio (has a updated one installed and works). Bike starts, runs, and rides with recent inspection. Not pretty, but its all there. Was thinking a project EVO. price <$5,000. Any opinions?

Doesn't sound like too bad of a deal, KBB says around 6800, get documentation on the motor rebuild, I've heard that the 90's had the better inner cam bearings from the factory, but that the later factory rebuilds use the cheaper bearings. Don't take this as gospel, just my .02. Always makes me wonder when I see a harley with 20k mi and advertized with new rebuild, Didn't take care of the bike or what, From what I've seen here and heard, evos are sort of like old chevy small blocks, run forever.

I paid 5k for my 90 Ultra Classic and I love it. Mine just turned 34k - all original, sat in a garage way too much. Near as I can tell the engines are really solid. Bike is a blast to ride and at that price you can do whatever you want to with it and not feel bad. Just painted my whole bike with truck bed liner - came out great and is virtually indestructable. Probably wouldn't have done it if I had paid 10k+ for it. Rides great on long trips, the fairing is extremely beneficial. I just let her breathe better with a Basani 2:1 exhaust and a Kuryakyn hypercharger and it has lots of power and gets 42 mph. Good luck.

Thumbs up

Had my 1990 from new and could list a number of things that typically go wrong with them. But they would have all shown up long ago on 'yours' and you have a rebuild which will have caught them anyway. Can't comment on the price, but I love mine so much I fitted an S&S 107....
