Default what year motor?

right now i have a 96 sporty i turned into a bobber wich i am know board with and want a bigger bike and something to build up. i have been looking into the older dynas with the evo motor. from what i can find stock for stock they averaged the same HP as the twin cam88 but of coarse it varies from bike to bike and from what i can find it is a much cooler running motor and stronger. im just not sure what year to look for. i know the cam bearings i believe where changed in 93 and they where much stronger. i also remeber reading some where that in the 93-96 range they put in better base gaskets and cured the leaks but i dont remeber what year? so basically what where the better years? the plan for the bike is to buy before fall and possiable get some where from 90-100hp and hopefully it will still be reliable enough to put some hard miles on it and do some good tire burning hole shots with. thanks for the help.

If you're planning on 100 HP, then base gaskets and cam bearing don't matter. You'll be in there anyway and putting new in either way. Personally, I like the early ones, "bottom breathers," but that's probably because I have one.

well i have been thinking about it 90-100 will be the finishing goal for sure but ill prolly do the basics right off the bat like cam, pipes, ignition, aircleaner, and possibly the carb wich i know will help me alot and tune it and that should hopefully put me in 70-80hp area. then the following year ill most likely get board and punch it out and do heads and pistons. so im looking for something to start with sense ill be riding it for a year or so be for tearing into the motor.

Then about any Evo you get that's in reasonable shape will do you. Just find one you like.
