I did the 100 mile oil change tonight. Oil temp doesn't get over 190 but the heads seem awefully hot. Is that normal?

Yep just ride it and enjoy it. After you sort out the jets, timing, etc things will settle down.

I finally decided on Supertrapp Super Megs for the new exhaust. The Thunderheader just didn't fit even after some vigorus massaging. The exhaust will arrive Thursday.

On the way home from work I started getting a tweet and then a growl from around the the tranny. The noise is bike speed sensitive. With the clutch pulled the noise slows as the bike slows. Haven't touched it yet. Any ideas guys?

If the clutch is in and I rev the motor no change in the sound. The bike has been a bear to get into neutral.

Could be a few things, easiest to check is the drive belt tension. Too tight it will squeak, and make funny noises as it tears the bearings and seals up.

Did a chain conversion years ago. The primary case felt kinda hot. I'm thinking I need to pull the primary and inspect. Is it possible to tell much by rotating the tranny input and output shafts with the tranny in.

My situation is different than yours, but with the Energy One extra plate kit I have had more trouble finding neutral. I tried re-adjusting the clutch several times and it doesn't make much difference. Switching to Castrol type F automatic transmission fluid helped, Energy One also recommends B&M Trick Shift but I could not find that.

I am having the same problem. I couldn't shift if I adjusted it per the manual. Had it a little tighter. Hope I just smoked the throwout bearing.

I'm running an E-One extra plate clutch as well. Followed Dean's advice and I get my B&M Trick Shift at our local Autozone. Neutral is easy to find for me, but it took several trial and error adjustments to get it there. I'm only about 1/3 of a turn out down at the basket.

I pulled the primary tonight and didn't find any issues. The tranny I'm running is a Ultima 6 speed with 28,000 miles. Rotating the input and output shafts by hand you can feel that it's kinda rough. It feels more like the gears than a bearing. I compared it to the Harley 5 speed I pulled out and the Harley is quiet with virtually no backlash.

John,

How much backlash do the Ultima's normally have? It still has gear oil in it. How noisy are they when you rotate a new one? Thanks in advance for all the help.
