I used the calculators on Nightrider and I'm going to switch to a 22 on the tranny that I have. That will give me a 3.57 overall drive ratio with a 3.07 in od. I'm also getting a heavy duty spring and carbon fiber extra plate kit from Jireh.
What do you guys think about the ignition that comes with the 113? I have a Crane Hi-4E on the bike already. The type that mounts under the seat. Is the stock ignition reliable?
Oh yeah, the bikes a 93 Fatboy with Summax hard bags and a windshield.
Bill
I would use the ultima ignition as the curve is matched for the engine I tried the Crane and switched back to the ultima, I also tried the Ultima ignition on my S&S 110" and it worked much better than the S&S IST ignition.
If the front end gets lite I'll have a smile that won't fade for years.
Good advice. I'll do the leak down and compression test.
The first time you open it up I think you better use 2nd or 3rd as with the 127 once I got it broken in I made the mistake of nailing it in first, best get used to the power in the higher gears, it went completely sideways and bounced off the rev limiter in a heartbeat. The other advise I would give you is things happen real fast so you have to look further down the road when you grab a handful as you better pick where your going since you get there real Quick.
I finally decided on Supertrapp Super Megs for the new exhaust. The Thunderheader just didn't fit even after some vigorus massaging. The exhaust will arrive Thursday.
On the way home from work I started getting a tweet and then a growl from around the the tranny. The noise is bike speed sensitive. With the clutch pulled the noise slows as the bike slows. Haven't touched it yet. Any ideas guys?
If the clutch is in and I rev the motor no change in the sound. The bike has been a bear to get into neutral.
Inner primary to tranny bolts coming loose, Inner primary bearing. You need to pull the cover off and see whats up.
Right now I'm running Quaker State synthetic gear in the tranny. I planned on changing it after a couple of hundred miles. I'll give Royal Purple a try. The primary has B&M Trick Shift right now. Shifts good, a little noisey. Neutral is easy to find. I didn't talk to Midwest after I talked to John at Jireh. The tranny was out of warranty and I'm just glad it didn't lock up and cause me to go down.
I tried the Quaker state and the Royal Purple in the tranny but I like the Red line heavy shock proof gear oil (I run a baker DD6) In the primary I run the Royal purple synthetic ATF works like magic, much better than the Mobil 1 or anything else I have tried over the last 30+ years of Harleys. I ran the super trap for a while, played with the disks and open cap but really didn't like it besides it seems to be made real cheap and I didn't like the sound on long trips, ran out of breath about 4800. I put on the R&B Racing Black hole with 2" primary's WOW did that wake up this 127 and I love the sound, the chrome is way better it fits perfect and some real quality built in. The bottom end is stronger, no flat spots and it just keeps pulling.

Something came loose in the old Ultima tranny I was running and ran thru the geartrain. I replaced that with the tranny that I found the piece of metal on the magnet this weekend.

It's broke in and it will break the rear end loose in first. Runs like a scalded dog.

I'd been running Mobil 1 but Autozone was out when I put the tranny in. I was planning on changing it after 500 or 600 miles anyway. I'll give the Royal Purple a shot. I've been running B&M trick shift in the primary. Put a Barnett extra plate clutch and a heavier spring in. I'm happy with the Supertrapp. Finish is good and I don't really have any flat spots. But I was used to a Thunderheader.
Called Brian at Midwest this morning about the metal in the trans and a base gasket leak that is starting. He called me back this afternoon. Since I live ten miles from the warehouse he told me to drop the trans off tomorrow and he would fix it or give me a new one. He also passed a message to Matt who handles the engine warranties. So far I'm impressed. A company that will stand behind there product. Kudo's to Midwest.
My 127 was over a year off warranty, I kept having lifter noise with it so finally I pulled the motor out of the bike to get the rear rocker cover off and I found the main rocker arm support was broken and a big chunk just sitting rubbing on the rocker arm. Midwest not only rebuilt the complete motor but they picked it up at my door, paid for all the shipping and sent it back. I never got that kind of service from S&S
