clutch question
I heard some noise yeaterday taking off from a stop on my 95 E-glide. I took apart the primary to find the chain ate throught the adjuster shoe. So while I was at it I was going to check my clutch. I can't figure out how to pull the drum apart. I have the whole drum sitting on the bench. There is a clip on the back and on the front. It is totally different than my shovel. Need some pointers, thanks.
After some reading I guess I need a way to compress the spring. Looks like I can use my spring compressor for auto transmissions.

Don't worry about the clutch basket Put it back on as is I don't know how long you owned the bike Maybe the chain didn't have the proper slack 3/4 in at center The prim fluid should be 1 quart and yes replace the shoe
Check the intermediate disk rivots for looseness while the clutch is in your hand, you might have some gold rivots fall out at that mileage.

My rivets came out at 26k.
I replaced it with a Barnet clutch that added plates and disks to replace the intermediate grenade(disk).
Re-install your clutch basket.
Buy a compressor or make one as I did, compress the diaphram, remove the c-clip,release the compressor, and remove the clutch plates.
Your making it a lot harder than it is!

I just used my clutch drum press I use for automatic car transmissions. It worked great. Clutch looked ok, no carnage. Got the primary back together and I can't remember the bike being so smooth.
