I picked this one up from a friend for $3000. It's an 86' FXRS, 34k miles, bone stock when I got it.
This summer I have lowered it, T-bars, seats, etc. Buying parts for the CV conversion as I type! It's been a fantastic bike and very fun to ride. I am learning 1986 is a strange year. Not many parts advertised to fit, but alot do if you take a chance.
Thanks for the kind replies. This is an awesome bike, and the price ... can't beat it! How do I sleep at night?
I was amazed in the overall condition after I started to clean it up. The paint is nearly flawless, most of the chrome is still good, just needed brakes and a basic tune up. They provided about 15 years of service records and reciepts along with the original owners manual and a service book.
Story behind the bike is that I am a Police Officer. A co-worker / friend was killed in the line of duty 10/10/07. His son is now an officer with my department. This was his fathers (R.I.P.) bike who rode it every chance he could. He kept it as long as he could but knew it was just going to rot away if he let it sit outside any longer. After I showed interest in it, he decided he would part with it knowing it would be treated with the love it deserved.
It was out dates and I have done several things ot make it my own. Installed the bars, pipes, seats, lowered, chrome, etc. Just purchased late modle CV carb for the well needed upgrade. I am contemplating a transition to ape's, but not sure yet. Maybe this winter.
