HARLEY CV CARB #27501-89(-0605) W/ COMPLETE EVO SET-UP (#140361014118)
You got a great deal on that with all the stuff you need (except cables). The pull cable is longer for the CV and though you "can" carefully cut about 3/4" of the housing off the older cable and make it work. If you've already bought new (older style) cables, that would be worth a try. I don't recommend it for used cables because they have to be routed differently and changing their positions usually makes them too stiff to work well. Be sure to replace the o-rings and grommet on the manifold and lube them before install. I use vasoline, but any grease, soap, or slick cleaner will work.
You can't use the older a/c cover on a CV back plate because of the in-set for the diaphram chamber
And I'm not sure about the Sportster backing plates, but it was the '88 XL carbs that didn't have the accelerator pump. I think all the BT carbs did have them as well as '89 - up XL.
Hey gnafin, I did find a real nice batwing for mine. He didn't have any older ones and when you didn't send a pic I figured you either found one or changed your mind. I have been sooooo busy trying to build a new building since the fire. We had 7 days in October the did NOT rain, I lost a whole month, now we are racing the snow. Good luck, I have most of the big pieces to rebuild (big thanks to sprint12) and some e-bay and craigslist. There is just not enough hours in the day and working two jobs doesn't leave me much time. I'm not whining, I am very lucky..... Ok, so I am whining. Good luck to YA!!!!
