Voltage reg. on my wife's 2012 sporty's likely the culprit for battery drain at low rpm's through rush hour stop and go. Lookin for a replacement and concerned that an OEM unit is probably gonna crap out. Bike was recently purchased with 1,500mi and probably sat for a long time.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
I've read that there was a recall on them, but it's not longer available.

It was my understanding that if there is a recall on something the recall was good until it was done.
Friend of mine got an ignition switch on an '89 last year due to recall.
this had to be quoted as its crazy awesome how some after market parts are able to improve the HD system
This should not be a shocker... but great way to resurrect a seven year old thread though.
For what it's worth, four years ago I upgraded charging system from 22 amp to 32amps with the three component Compufire, happy so far knock on wood, box says made in USA right on label sticker.
I stand by my 2009 post; that system is still working in that bike( '85 FXEF ) and has never caused a single problem. Did replace the battery last year. Have the same system on my '01 FXDXT with zero problems also.
