Whats the rear pulley tooth count on my 1996 Dyna Low Rider. I believe its 70? If so, are any of you guys running the 65 tooth? Was it of any real benifit? Do you recomend it or its a waste? Lastly, does it require a new belt, or is there enough adjustment? Thanks.

Neil

I like the 65 over the 70 on a softail. Pulling less rpm at highway speed. Think you'll need a new belt.

If you raise gearing by fitting a 65T pulley you will lose out, as rear wheel torque will be reduced by 7%. I wouldn't do it, as the bike will be slower when accelerating.

Both above are right,Lowering the tooth count on the rear will reduce accelleration, but it will reduce cruising rpm's.Check out baker website, and use the rpm calculator to see the difference. And yes you will need a different belt.

Well, I do ride 2-up almost everywhere I go. Me and the wife come in at about 440 fully dressed. Maybe I'll just skip it. Funny thing is, at 70-75mph is the bikes sweet spot. Where all the vibes go away and she's smooth as glass. I'd hate to loose that at my favorite speed.

Hi, I am almost ready to install my new chrome Duece wheel on my 99 fxstc. I am acquiring the various parts i need for the changeover.... thinner belt and pulley, rear caliper, etc. I also recently had an Andrews ev46 cam installed. I mainly blast around locally, very seldom go on many long trips, would it be better to go from a 65 tooth to a 70 tooth since i am buying new parts and i like to blast around on my barhopper !!! Thanks, Frank
