could some one tell me what the oil qty. when changing oil and filter. by the book. also where is the drain plug for the transmission located. cannot find also the primary drain plug i can not find. thanks in advance for your help.
Never mind on the original question. I found the drain plug. I just needed to get the bike up in the air a little to see it. I just bought the bike and it's a little different than my evo dyna. I think its 4 qts of oil in the tank but not sure. But anyway it's got a dip stick I was just wondering. I don't have a maintenance manual yet. I love the bike. a police tour FLHPI. It rides so good too my wife is going to love it !!!
Yes, many miles ahead for you on the RK and you will appreciate the saddlebags on your first trip.
The transmission drain plug is in the same area towards the rear right side of the oil drain plug, it takes a 3/4 wrench. Took me awhile to find it so I'm passing on some info.

Yup, 4 quarts, don't overfill it or it will push the extra oil out of the breather. As long as the oil is above the add mark you're good to go.
Bikes differ. I like to run my Glide close to the high mark, but I had a BMW that would burn off oil to about a third way down from the high mark then settle. It can take a lot of top-ups to realise it is just using oil for the sake of it!
Hay,great looking ride! I have the same--1997 RK,love the ride.Just installed EV-27 cam,adj pushrods,pc3 and K&N hi-flow air filter plus dyno-tune.BIG difference in roll on power.Good luck,great bike Skip
