why did you pick the short shots?
the short pipes are only good for top end.
I have an fxr and I run a thunderheader with a screamin eagle air cleaner.
42 was way too lean on the pilot for me. I think I actually had a 185 main.
You really should think about a different exhaust. I ride on the street alot and the thunderheader gives alot of low/mid range and actually utilizes the cam I put in my bike.
Do you have any pop on de-cel?

oh just an FYI, any more than 2 turns out on the mixture screw, you really should go up a size on the pilot jet.

To the guy with the hypercharger. I had one of those on my 95 fat boy. I actually lost power with it. and 2 1/2 turns out on mixture screw, go up a pilot size.

I rejet alot of carbs, most of the time if done right, you really shouldn't have to mess with mix screw.
I live in Massachusetts and I get them as close as I can. the weather isn't a constant temp here, sometimes it's tough.

I got the Short Shots so I could ride them until I found a used Thunderheader. The bike, as of last night, has a Screaming Eagle intake (Ebay find) and now the Thunderheaders off a Softail. Rode it around the neighborhood at midnight last night and it didn't get warmed up, so I will have to wait until Monday to ride it due to typical Oklahoma May weather.

If you like the performance of the pipes and air intake . You will love a HP ignition module.

I'm pretty much done with the bike as it comes to performance. It is plenty powerful enough (even with the Short Shots; which I thought performed very well) for me. The Thunderheader was an aesthetic thing for me.

You know what? I was wrong... I looked in my carb kit parts bag, and it turns out that when I rejetted I actually used the 46 idle jet and 185 main jet from the kit - the 45 idle and 180 main are still in their little bags, and the 46 bag and 185 bag are empty (don't know where my feeble old mind got the 175 main jet thought from... maybe that was the original main jet size and I got confused... it's never happened BEFORE! Or maybe I was just drunk when I rejetted... who knows?). Anyway, I'm still running 2 1/2 turns out on the idle screw - but the air is thicker and more humid down here in Georgia - esp this time of year. Plugs are nice and tan - no fouling at all - so I guess I have my idle mixture about right, and she's NEVER EVER backfired through the carb. I might go in to 2 turns on the idle screw and see what happens - just for shitzngiggles!

Yep, after installing the Thunderheader I'm going to go to the 185 main.
