Default 96 fat boy brakes

Just changed front brake pads. Started to test ride and discovered rear brakes were gone. Pumped them awhile to get them to work. I never touched them. Is this normal or something to check out. Thanks again for your replies.

Well....I would say inspect the rear pad thickness as you did the front! If they r good you may have a bad master cylinder? On that year bike you may want to inspect rotor thickness also to make sure rotor is not worn out. Good luck with your brake problem. And by doin just front brakes you should have not even touched anything to do with the rear brakes.
RIDE SAFE!

Didn't touch rear brakes. It's staying great now. Pads and rotors are checking ok. I think I have garage gremlins. Thanks for your reply.

My bike started to do that too: Let it sit a while and the rear brake wouldn't work until it was pumped up. After it was pumped the first time, it was OK after that. I rebuilt the MC and caliper with Genuine H.D. kits, then had a hell of a time bleeding it. Could not get it to bleed. Turned out that the crush washer at the caliper connection had a very small leak and was sucking in air. Bought some new crush washers at O'Reilley's and it bled in no time at all and all is good now. The MC/caliper really looked good inside. I wonder if that washer wasn't the source of my original problem.
