Motor torn down - somewhat...
Alright fellas, I've had the clear coming off my polished aluminum pieces for a while, so I pulled all of them, except the oil pump. They are polished up and sitting in a box awaiting a trip to the Local Powder Coater for a spray of clear powder.
Two Questions:
1. How and should I remove the pickup from the Gear Case Cover?
2. Are there any things I should inspect/replace/upgrade while I've got the bike broken down this far? It is a 93 FLHS and has about 64k on it, a stage II cam and carb kit, stock aside from that. Not sure when the clutch was last replaced, but there was zero slippage when I took it apart. No other parts have ever been replaced.

Mark the exact position of the timing plate (securing screws to position in the slots) remove screws cut wires pull out plate Remove the gold colored cup (center screw ) Now cover can come off If the bike has no clutch problems leave it be My 93 FLHS has about the same miles EV-13 cam Runs great When you pull that cover be careful of the cam breather gear washer check timing marks before re-installing cone
If the gear case cover is going into the oven then the pickup should come off, as well as the oil seal in the cover. I don’t know if I’d cut any wires though. Take the connector apart then the entire cable can be pulled through the cover. Its tight but can be done.
As far as parts to replace while it’s apart I’d say at a minimum the inner cam bearing and possibly lifters. I’d leave the clutch alone.

I fitted an S&S motor to mine a while ago, not quite so many miles as your bike. Clutch went back in (with a Barnett spring to strengthen it up), but I fitted a new engine sprocket and chain as they were showing signs of wear, also an M6 tensioner. That has quietened the primary a little and improved gear changes, so is a worthwhile improvement.
