Headlight flickering On / Off
I finally started to ride again after having surgery. So I stop and when I leave its now dark out. My headlight flickers and the dash lights go out at the same time. Except the Hi beam indicator lights up. It will only do this for a second and then seems fine. It only does it when I start to move. I went down some bumpy roads to see if it is a loose connection. Nothing. Looking at the electric diagram in the manual I think it might be the hi/lo beam switch. When it does it the motor still runs fine. Anyone have an idea? Is a bright swich assembly still avalible for a 87 FLHTC.

If it does that when stopped and holding the front brake and bouncing on the forks, I would pull the switch halfs apart. If you have alligator clips, jumper the switch to prove it out. As miacycles said, sounds like its at the switch or switch ground, since the motor still runs fine. Maybe check in the headlight bucket for loose or corroded connections.

It will not do it unless the bike is moving. I tried bouncing it and wiggling the wires. I pulled the faring off and everything seemed good. Cleaned all the plug connections and grounds. For the hell of it I changed the circuit breaker, it was original. Then it rained the rest of the night so I didnt road test it. I ordered a new switch from JP cycle. I'll see what happens tonight.

Well I have go out riding 2 nites and no problems. Must have been somthing loose that I cleaned, tightend, or replaced. I ordered a Hi/LO switch from Jp. If it doesn't happen again,Ill throw it the known good parts box .
