When's the last time you rebuilt the "E"?
It don't hurt to do it every 2.5-3 years..clean everything up and make sure everything is as supposed it's to be..
The same happened to me a few months ago...The rubber tip on the float needle has a tendency to get brittle with the 10% ethanol gasoline...It also chews away at the accelerator pump diaphram...About every 3-years I'll be replacing the accelerator pump diaphram, float needle and seat, and all O-Rings that come in contact with the fuel.
As already mentioned, check your float level adjustment too!
Thanks for all the info. The gas cap DID seem to have a nice suction on it the last time I fueled up. I've yet to pull the bowl and check the float but it's gonna be the first step. I've owned the bike for three years and I have not rebuilt the carb yet. Maybe it'll be on the "to do" list.
CRAP! Today the speedo quit and the blinker cancel feature stopped working. I just replaced the speedo cable and gear drive not too long ago.
Anyone know if the blinker cancel feature is somehow tied into the speedo housing? I mean, the speedo itself is straight mechanical. At least it won't be a hard fix.

The latest..... The cable was broken wich tanked the speedo and reed switch (for the blinkers) New cable on the way!
Gas cap vent went bad and caused the spillage after shut down.
Thanks for the help.
