Someone probably just tried to stop a base gasket leak. I don't think the case will crack where you're referring to.

Ya i am trying to research ways to remove JB weld. When i first looked it was black so i thought it was just rtv or some gooky stuff but when i cleaned it all up it's white and looks like the stuff you fix gas tanks with. The white stuff that comes in a stick and you mush it together to activate it. Anyways i have some engine gunk degresser soaking on it right now and in the morning i will start the teardown just got done making my cut off allen key for the rocker boxes.

Do I need a special socket for the head bolts or is it just a 12 point socket?
Also anything fancy i need to do to tear down the top end? It looks strait forward.

Side note do the performance rockers and tappets (like the SE ones) really do that much more than the stock ones?
And do the natural cases/jugs/heads oxide faster?

Still haven't found a good compression number, the manual just says over 90????

!/2" 12 point socket for the head bolts. Try contacting JB Weld for solvent info. That stuff is tougher than supermans kneecaps!!

Wait until you remove the cylinders to worry about the JB Weld. You'll have a lot more room to get it off.

Well I think it will be time for a new motor..... There is a crack from one of the cylinder studs to the top case bolt in between the jugs, see the pics....

I am going to take the bottom end to the dealer on Monday and see if they can fix it or see what i can do. I know i can get a brand new motor for 3k and i am willing to spend 2k to build mine because i know i will get better heads/cam/pistons doing it my self. In the mean time i will have to finish taking the other side off and removing it from the bike.

Anyone want a 95 FLHTP in pieces......

That's a common place for them to crack, we haveone in the shop now, the guy had it crack on the way to Sturgis this year. He called us and we told him to JB Weld it and he rode the rest of the year and is waiting to put a 113 incher in. Sounds like it's time to give Ultima a call and put some cubic inches in that ride. If you have any questions Pm me and i will send you my phone number.

And the story takes a twist.....

So after going to the dealer and talking to some folks it looks like the cheapest way would be at least 3k just to get the bike back on the road again then i would easily drop another 4k in parts and paint! so that got me thinking.....

So I thought what the h3ll i will throw it up on Craigslist to see if i can recoup some of my cost out of this bike and just buy another one that is more done. So far my best offer is 3500 in pieces and i have someone looking at it on Friday. I have also had about 3 different late 90's 883's offered up as trade.

What do ya'll think? If I let this go I think I would have around 10k to play with to find another bike either a newer FLH or FLT. Or i could sink another 6-7k into her and have a 12-13k dollar Evo.
