Greetings,
Nah...just set it on the seat while filling up.
When you sit on it, you will remember where it fits better.....

The cap on my 2011 looks just like the one on my 1993.

I guess I never read what's on my cap, but now I have my phone # engraved on it...
Mine is under the fuel door too and usually I place it on top of the radio case (dash). It won't fit inside the door while filling.
Holster is funny, maybe a biker's wallet chain and hook it to my belt.

I stopped and celebrated with pancakes with peanut butter/butter, hot syrup and eggs/sauage w/milk-coffee. "Not low carb"

My 1990 has a metal cap like an auto radiator cap, so Harley must have introduced the plastic one in the early 90s, probably with all the other mid-term Evo upgrades.

Yeah, it is black plastic, bottom is big, but top is small to fit inside. I got looking at it, now I think it is a non-vented cap. I told J & P vented.

I now have a huge problem.
Probably won't be riding for a while.
My bad L-knee locked-up today at noon and I can't get it unlocked. It has always un-locked right away, with-in seconds w/self-manipulations, does it couple times a year, but now I can't walk.
A few yrs ago they wanted to do full knee replacement and I didn't. I have always got by, but now I'll do anything.
Surgery will be forth-coming....I hope very soon!
Very miserable day.

Same here.

But let me tell you about the day I was sidetracked and forgot to cap a full tank ...

Ah hell haven't we all done that ONCE!

Frickin' gas poured out the bike filler hole. Made it down the road and wondered WTF is up with the gas smell. I had already replaced the leaking 24 year old gas line a few weeks earlier and thought "damn" not again. Of course it flooded over the top of tank and soaked my riding gear. I was afraid of going up in a big fire ball if I re-fired up the bike. But did it anyways and headed home for a change and a shower.

That's funny...no there isn't!

Reminds me of the time I was looking cool on my new shovelhead and my left leg was on fire from my leaking full zippo. Talk about a gas burn!
Miles from home and one pair of blue jeans..........
Actually I could have used an ambulance!

Very best wishes with sorting out your knee. That sounds grim.

As for your filler cap I doubt if the vented cap will give any problems. The tank is vented from the filler neck anyway. It might be a problem if you have a California bike with all its vapour trap stuff.

The dreaded zippo burn. That stuff burns my skin without even being lit!

Funny story here, this happened years ago when I was a youngster in a foreign land with a bunch of other misguided children. We were on an all nighter drinking around a campfire when one of our guys started impressing the locals with his fire breathing antics. That went over well so he decided to soak his hightop tennis shoes with lighter fluid and light them on fire. THAT went over huge! Especially when they began to heat up and our hero, feeling the heat now, takes off running down the beach with his feet on fire. Funniest damn thing you ever saw...
