Thanks Graham. It's a lot better today and I started the ball rolling for medical.
I have heard so many post surgery horror stories on "total knee jobs" and good stories too!
Kinda scary, but I can't have it lock-up somewhere and be totally down, say like on my bike somewhere!

At least on the Harley I can get off on the right side and ride it with forward boards. Just can't straighten or weight bear it.

Kinda funny, went from lost gas cap to no walking....and being on FIRE....wow!

That kid having his shoes on fire is really something....kids are dangerous!

Hi jack... ;-)

I'm in PT right now for a head and neck injury and there are two knee replacement patients on more or less my same schedule so we're getting aquainted. (nothing like a common enemy) It looks painful but the prognosis in both cases seems pretty good, one patient is well ahead of schedule but he's working harder and more diligently at his rehab... good luck with that HM!

My mother had her knee done a few years ago. She was walking down the isle at her mother's funeral and her knee just sort of blew out. I figger Oma (her mother) was f'ing her over one last time. They never got along. Anyway, about 2 years later she finally went in for a knee job. It took a while, but the pain was gone and she is better off now with the new knee.

Yes, I believe it was a total knee. She had some "clunking" afterwards with it, but it works. I'm not sure if it still clunks, but it doesn't hurt anymore.

"Thanks you guys. I'm kinda depressed with this."

I told my Physical Therapist the same thing after a month of neck pain and chronic headaches. I'm no Nancy boy but the pain coupled with the uncertainty will wear you down, I don't care who you are. All you need is something to look forward to and a little bit of relief wherever you can find it. Good luck!

Holster Maker:
My Dad just had total knee replacement June 30th (he's 88!) After 5 days in the hospital, he came home with me and spent the next 5 weeks (that part was great, got to know my Dad as an adult...see him as a man, not just "Dad"). He had a visiting PT come to our house for 2 weeks (3 times a week) then we went in to the hospital to do PT. By the time I took him back to his house, he was bending his knee to 102 degrees (now he's to 117 degrees). He was on hydrocodone (if my memory is correct) for the pain, but he only took it right before bedtime. When we asked him about a week after surgery if he was interested in getting his other knee done, he said absolutely not! Now when I ask him, he acts like maybe he will go through with surgery again! My advice is don't push yourself too hard, listen to your body and let others wait on you as much as they will!

Wow, thanks....I feel better already!
Now everything is almost normal w/knee, except soreness.
Very unusual occurrence w/my knee. Usually I'm doing something and it seizes and I manipulate it and all is fine.

But going out at the lunch counter and stayed seized for 2 days and became dis-lodged during sleep.
I could understand, if it would have locked-up while playing sports or something. Makes me scared to do stuff.... like ride!
This makes a completely diff outlook and makes me think, "I have no choice"

This all started in 1974 and I had surgery. Then yrs later it started acting up again and has progressively gotten worse.
I'll get her done, just waiting for them!

November's an excellent time for surgery, I had my back fusion two days before thanksgiving. The kids all came to see me, my 9 year old grandson got to hold the bedpan while I "blew broth" it was great! The best part though was that I was well into recovery as the snow started melting out. Got back in the saddle with a brand new back...

Don't worry, they cant hurt us. ( My Old man use to say that to me). Seriously don't belive everyones horror stories. I have had many sugeries in my life. More than 10. Will there be pain? You bet there will be, will it last forever? ,Hell no. Will it be as bad as you imagine? Probably not. The Drs and Nurses will make it go away. Personaly when I am in pain I want the full benfit of Medical Science. ( PAIN MEDS ). I also recomend an accelerant such as a beer. After alittle while it will just be a bad memory. My best freinds neighbor is a retired cop. Had both knees done. He plays softball on a leage every summer. Do it now while you feel healthy. You will be back to 100% by mid to late winter and be ready to ride in the Spring. Don't sit and bum. As you said what choice do you have?. years ago you would be ***** out of luck and knees. Be glad they can fix you.
