Oops! Time flies i guess.. sorry 'bout my really late reply...

Riding in the Netherlands is mostly comfortable due to tarmac roads, apart from too many speed-bumps in some places. For the long bendy routes we have to go abroad however, like the Alps.

Dr. Hess did she try filling the steering bearings to stop it from clunking?

Holster Maker: Sorry to hear about your knee. SIL went through two hip replacements. She was up and running (literally) in short order. She said she kept the pain meds down to a minimum, and pressed her PT schedule to get full benefit. Good luck, and wishing you a full and speedy recovery.

Thanks guys.
Had MRI last week (22nd) and still don't know anything. Doc said they would call for app't, sure glad that sucker got unlocked the next day!

I don't have anywhere to place my gas cap. Doesn't fit in my consul or dash, slides off my seat, etc. I'm about ready to tie a rope to it.
I always parked it on the pump......but not now!

Holster Maker, sorry for the late reply. Somehow this year flew by. Thanks for the welcome. How is your knee now? Did you get a new one?

Hey nice to hear form ya and you're welcome.
No I didn't have surgery...I chickened out!
I lost weight and that helped, but it locks-up occasionally. I went to another doc, he really explained everything to me and he doesn't need Mercedes payment money!
I know I'm bone on bone from 1974 surgery. He said to me as we are looking at the mri and x-rays...I see your problem...bone spurs. They catch and then un-hook. I said, can you do anything with them. He said, not without making a big mess! I said, how about total knee replace. He said, I think I would ride the wave and when you can't walk, can't sleep, in pain too much, then go for it.....unless you're a real active type. I said, no I'm not, just race cars and ride my Harley!
I'm still riding the wave, but on a "new blackgirl" flhtc now. I wanted abs and my best friend has been wanting my evo for yrs, so he gave me 11k, which is more than fair. Evo's will always be in my heart and love them, but times change and I can honestly say my new bike is the best I've owned in all 30 bikes.
ABS already saved us once....ask my wife what she thinks saved us..there was no doubt about it! She landed on top of my helmet, but we stopped without a skid, or sound and straight, about 6" behind his bumper.....stuff happens!

New bike, old knee... I think I would 've done the same! ;-)
One of the reasons last year passed quickly for me is that my FLHS suddenly made strange noises in 3rd gear. Ended up replacing 3rd and 4th gears, bearings, gaskets, seals, etc. Then the fitting of forward controls to my wife's Sportster resulted ultimately in new piston rings, valves, seals, gaskets etc., due to shearing 1 exhaust stud in the front cylinderhead. The one you can't get to without taking off the head of course... At the moment everything is running as it should be again. As you said: stuff happens!

Lemme see... You're a Dutch guy riding an Evo dresser, wife with a Sportster. I'm a Dutch guy riding an Evo dresser, wife with a Sportster. Half a world apart. Separated at birth?

Hoi Hessel, as you were looking at Lotus Sevens in 1979, there might be an age-gap bigger then a few minutes... I was born in '71.
How did you end up in The States?

From gas cap to surgery. This is a great forum and lots of morale suport. i put mine on the left handlebar behind the batwing. Ummm....yup, it was there when I started off. I didn't realize until I turned on the main road and it flew by my peripheral vision. I stopped and found the top part in the median. No bottom. I went to my scheduled meeting for a ride. I was the only one to show up to ride with Frank who rides an 05 Road Glide and as I relayed what happened, he relayed the importance of finding the bottom half before my 05 EGC popped codes.
We went back around the place and after about an hour or so, we found the bottom part on the other side of the raod, on the other side of the ditch, and sitting pretty on a grassy hill. WOW! Must have been hit and separated, no damage, snapped together and fit as advertised. Whew! What a save!
Hmmm....cap holster? Maybe a velcro model somewhere to put the cap while re-fueling? I would probably consider buying one. Maybe fit somewhere on the fairing

Well, I got 10 years on you, then. Yeah, I was looking at Sevens in '79. I have one in the shop now at about 85% complete, but Dr.Linda's Europa is taking my time up. I was born in the US. My mother is from Breda and my father is from a Dutch community in Michigan. His grandparents came over in the 1800's, I think.
