Default Lifter install ??? I'm embarrassed to ask

I'm installing new lifters with an EV27 cam. Do I just take em out of the box, coat em with assembly lube and install? Do I soak them in oil over night? I feel kinda silly asking, but I want to do this right. Service manual doesn't specify. They are V Thunder lifters if it makes a difference. Thanks

Nevermind, I did a little more digging through some old threads and found my answer. Now I really feel stupid.

Never a stupid question. The lifters should be submerged overnite or at least as long as you have available so the lifters are saturated inside.

When installing them put the bleed holes facing each other!! You can also take a pump type oil can and force oil into the bleed holes on the side to ensure that they are completely pumped up.

Not to disagree with the above info, but lifters can be installed without soaking them overnight. I just lube the body and the rollers well. I've done many that way. S&S actually recommended installing them dry years ago. Back when evos were still relatively new I remember seeing some of the dealer wrenches do it also. It saves time, and you don't have to wait for them to bleed down. Almost makes it idiotproof. I remember seeing a 'wet' install and also a 'dry' install procedure, either in an older Harley service manual or S&S instructions. Actually, the holes do not need to face each other like shovels did. I do it that way because I was used to working on shovels years ago, and it helps if you remove on later, so it gets reinstalled the same way. But the manual says it's not required.

Just my opinion.

Never said it was required, as you said it makes it easier to reinstall them the same that is all. Like you said I satrted doing it that way years ago so I still do it, just a creature of habit I guess.

I've done them pupming them full of oil and on start up they clattered something awfull ,they did sound fine after a couple minutes, after that they get the dunk and no more rattle and on cranking the motor with out plugs or plugs grounded on heads also helps to pump them up.
