Default Throttle Lock

Fellas, I had to get a new throttle lock, mine fell out and got lost. The new one came with the star-like thumbwheel, a spring, and a c-clip. There's a groove at the end of the threads where it looks like the c-clip goes. Does that c-clip go on inside the housing, meaning I have to take off the housing, put the spring over threads, screw-in the thumbwheel, attach the c-clip to the end of the threads inside the housing, and then re-install the housing? It seems that the c-clip is supposed prevent what happened to me, namely the thumbwheel unscrewing and falling out. Is that right? Nothing else seems to make sense. Thanks.

You've got it right... I wear a size 13 ring so it's a painfull procedure for me. But otherwise it's pretty straightforward..

Thanks for the confirmation. Those are big fingers dude, but at least they're not all thumbs like me :-). Thanks again.

There is also a shoe inside there that rubs against the throttle when you turn the screw in. The main reason that the screw falls out is the screw is backed until it forces the ring off.

Thanks, I was wondering about that little shoe. Do I have to reposition that shoe inside the housing, I mean is it loose in there?

I'll tell ya, nothing's simple with these bikes lol. I spent half a day just swapping out my choke cable . I had thought with the throttle lock all I had to do was screw it in. Come to find out I have to disassemble the housing, struggle with a tiny c-clip, and now this "shoe" you mentioned haha.

The shoe should just be lying there on the bottom of the housing. There is a small hole in the center that the screw sits in. put a little light grease in there to help hold it together and make sure everything work nicely. Hope this helps.
