Default Throttle Lock

I have a 1994 FXDS Convertable and have only had it for about a month. I just noticed, being new to HD, that the throttle lock thumbscrew was missing. I bought a new one and found that it also came with a spring and a small clip. I am not sure how the clip goes on. It is suppose to keep the thumbscrew from unscrewing and getting lost. Do I have to take the throttle apart and install the clip from the inside?

Thanks,
Larry

Default RE: Throttle Lock

yes loosen the cables, open the throttle clamp and there will (probably) be a plastic slide inside. screw the thumbscrew in through the slide and install the clip. biggest cause of this problem is people back the screw out far enough to pop the clip off and vibration will eventually wiggle the screw all the way out.
