Default Vibration in FXR

I've got a '87 FXLR that vibrates. Not as bad as a Sportster, but a lot more than my '03 FXDWG. Anyone have experiance with this? Maybe needs new motor mounts or stabilizer links?

It probably needs some fettling in that dept but it will never be as smooth as your 03.

If the rubber mounts are original from 87 i would definately say they could be the problem.

In my case it was a worn-out front motor mount. I got 10k miles out of the original mount before it went. The problem was the weight of the engine moving the mount caused the rubber to weaken. I had thought that Harley redesigned later mounts because comparing the old and new the front bolt holes were located lower on the new mount, but it's really because the rubber on either side of the threaded bolt holes weakened. It's tricky because the mount can look fine, or even like brand new in my case, and still be worn out. When the rubber weakened it caused the inside rubber part to be permanently grounded against the frame transmitting the engine vibrations.
