The thing that chits me is that there are bugger all options for wire spoke wheels. My old FXR has about zero clearance between the spokes and the inside face of the caliper whcih is a killer. I have a set of tokico units in the shed gathering dust because they are too fat.
I have scored a set of 3 pot Nissin units from a jappa that may fit, so if they do I'll post a thread here.
You can use the H-D 4 pots on the FXR but you will have to relieve the back of the caliper to clear the spokes....sounds scary but its fine if you don't use a pick axe to clearance the caliper.

A set of Tokico or Nissin dual piston calipers with the two pistons on one side and a thin pad-holding bracket on the other will fit. Usual donor bike for guys fitting them to Ironheads etc is the Kawasaki Ninja 650. Suzuki SV650s of the late 90s and maybe later used similar caliper.
Not as much stopping power as a four-pot, but better than the stock HD junk.
I also think that a Honda Deauville Nt 700V 2007 front left will fit. I got one on EBay for $50 so will see if it fits when it arrives. Its a 3 pot so if it works I'll be really chuffed as I'll have both scarey horsepower and scarey stopping!
@Spanners: Do you have a part number or a link to a picture of the Harley caliper your talking about?
My install of the Honda Deauville Nt 700 V 2007 Left Hand Front Brake Calliper Nisin 3 Spot I got from Ebay is going well...Just makeing an adaptor bracket as we speak. Speedo cable may present problems as its a tight fit.

.
Any Dyna OEM 4-pot, prior to 2008, will fit. I fitted one to a 1987 1100 Sportster, which has the same front end as an FXR and you have two choices....shim it off-centre so it clears (pistons will align themselves so ignore all the centreing paranoia in the bracket instructions) or relieve the back of the caliper to clear the spokes....I did both.
So if I fit newer ( what years)lower fork legs to my 97 EG, turn the axle down to 3/4 for the 97 wheel, and use the 06 and newer calipers, that should work???
I thought I read there was a speedo drive problem, anyone know?

Thanks
Yep, no
Speedo problems unless you go to a newer front wheel
