Default lower fairings

A friend just brought out a pair of lower fairings off his electra glide that he sold a while ago and we tried to put them on my tour glide. They wouldn't fit. It looks like the shark nose sits a little too low. I could fit them if I cut away part of the bottom of the sharknose or the top of the lowers, but that would create holes in the glove boxes. Are the electra glide lowers differently shaped than the tour/road glide lowers?

I gave a set of lowers from my old '93 ultra classic, to a friend with a '05 Road king and the fit it perfectly. Almost the same color. The main difference ws the pin stripping was reversed from his bike. They might work if you can change the crash bars. They are cheaper to get the the lowers.,,

The road king is a different animal in that it doesn't have the shark nose fairing. The fairing is in the way of mounting the electraglide lowers.

I have used the vinyl snap-ons for the engine guard for years. They take the wind off your legs and are a pretty good compromise. But I live in the south and winters arent too killer here.

If you go to the 10 and later Road Glide lower fairing mounts they will fit. The angle of the sharknose was changed so that all the new touring bikes use the same lowers.

So if I got the fairing mounts from a 2010run and up road glide, would that allow the clearance for the electraglide lowers to fit? It looked like the crash bars were right, there just wasn't enough room between the crash bars and the bottom of the fairing.

If you just change the lower Fairing mounts, it will cause the fairing to be pushed upward and can cause the fairing to break at the main frame mount.

The fairing mounts were changed beginning with the 2010 model year. This raised the lower mount to move the bottom of the fairing up about 1/4". The Main mount was also changed to move the angle but keep the headlights in the same position and not effect the aerodynamics. The Lowers are the same for both Electra Glides and '10 and later Road Glide.

In other words, you can not just change the lower mounts without taking a chance the main Fairing will break.
