Default Christmas present for my Hog :-)

I spend so much time fixing other people's bikes that mine gets neglected, even though I ride it a lot and recently the vibes at 2,000RPM started to bother me.

So I tightened up the rear engine mount bolts, they weren't majorly loose but they needed a tighten.....the difference is amazing!!!

My bike is now having a happy Christmas and I even changed the brake pads in the front.

The moral of this Christmas tale?

Never buy a bike off a mechanic

I'm was a bodyman but now paint by trade. My car looks like the crusher operator changed his mind at the last minute and the paint on my RKC needs some serious attention!

Yeah, I've heard "never buy a car from a mechanic" for the same reasons. After working on other people's stuff all day long, the mechanic's car is held together with fence wire and gum.

I had a friend, Leon (RIP, Leon) that was a mechanic, and a good one. He would not work on his own stuff. He would pay someone else to work on his stuff.

Hahahaaa!

Those comments put a smile on my face! My Father was an electrician for 38 years and theres still one outlet in the kitchen at my Fathers place that hasen't worked in 30 plus years, never worked when he bought the place new, never been fixed to this day.

I asked him about it one day jokingly, he just gave me this big smile and laughed. I think he left it because he thinks it's funny!

Sounds like Spanners Evo should be good for another 10 years without maintanance.

I represent this thread, mechanic that can also custom paint, my daily cars are known for rust and oiled changed by years. Currently in upper management and pull my 1985 rusted/faded paint Buick right in with the big dogs, wouldn't have it any other way.
